Each family tree is identified by a unique user code. If someone has submitted more than one family tree, each one will have a different user code.

You can restrict your WorldConnect search to a single family tree if you know the user code. You can exclude a family tree, or multiple family trees, by specifying the user code(s) in the "skip database" option on the search form.

To identify a user code:

To find a user code for a family tree you submitted, go to Password Central and request your WorldConnect user code and password. If you submitted more than one family tree, you will receive all the user codes and passwords.

To find a user code for a family tree someone else submitted, access their file by doing a search. The user code appears at the end of the URL (address), after the equal sign. For example, "winch" in the address shown below is the user code for that family tree:

Accessing a family tree by user code

Once you know the user code (yours or someone else's), you can go directly to that family tree by using the "jump to" option on the WorldConnect Project's main page, or by using the address format shown below. Replace the xxx portion of the address with the user code.  for example

There is a tilde (~) in the address. You will generally find this character in the top row of your keyboard, in the far left corner.
